Jasmine Doan, Founder
Along with being the founder of the Maui Math Circle, Jasmine was the former president of the Seabury Hall Upper School Math Team, the founder of TEDxYouth@SeaburyHall, and the assistant coach of the Seabury Hall Middle School Math Team. Math has always played a large role in Jasmine’s life. She won MathCounts Chapter in 7th and 8th grade, and placed 6th at States in her latter year. In the 8th Grade, she finished 1st in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC 8) for the State of Hawaii and was recognized by the Governor of Hawaii and Mayor of Honolulu for her achievement. In addition, Jasmine was the first place individual winner for the Maui Math League competition for two consecutive years. Now, Jasmine is a junior attending Stanford University, majoring in management science and engineering. She is involved with on-campus organizations such as: BaSES, a business entrepreneurship group, and Intervarsity, a Christian community.
Sean Wilson, Advisor
Sean Wilson was born in San Jose, CA in 1968. His family moved to Oahu in 1970, and then to Maui in 1980. In 1986, Mr. Wilson graduated from Seabury Hall, a small 7-12th grade day and boarding high school at the time. Afterward, he attended college at the University of Puget Sound, graduating in 1990 with a bachelor’s in mathematics and a minor in philosophy. After working in the restaurant industry, Mr. Wilson went back to school in 1996 to receive a California State Teaching Credential from CSU, Chico. He began teaching Middle School math in Magalia, California before moving to the Big Island to teach at Parker School. In 2002, Mr. Wilson moved back to Maui to begin teaching at his alma mater, earning his MS in Mathematics Education with honors from CSU, Chico in 2007. In 2009, Mr. Wilson became Mathematics Department Chair at Seabury Hall.
